Hamdan Dammag

Hamdan Dammag is a prize-winning novelist, poet and researcher with several publications. He received his PhD in computer science from the University of Reading, and since then he worked as an academic, researcher, journalist, translator, writer, human rights activist and political analyst. He has diverse research and writing interests, ranging from computing to Arabic literature and criticism. He worked as Managing Editor of Yemen Times newspaper and Chief Editor of Ghaiman literature journal. He has worked in various Academic insinuations, and in 2008 he was appointed as a Vice President of the Yemeni Center for Studies and Research in Sana’a. He is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of Liverpool Arab Art Festival, member of the Executive Committee of the British Yemeni Society, Co-Founder and member of the executive committee of Labour Friends of Yemen. Born in Ibb in 1973, he is the son of renowned Yemeni novelist Zayd Mutee Dammaj.
